Wecome to Motor City Motorobilia
* 2006 Detroit Auto Show Items
Now In Stock*
It's Time For A Sale!
The 2006 North American International Auto Show items are now in stock and cataloged,
including some very desireable items like the new Camaro Concept and Dodge Challenger
concept press kits.
In addition, I'm running out of storage space for legacy items of previous model years.
So I'm having a sale! Many
items have had their prices slashed up to 50% and a few selected items have been
discounted 60%!. Many items are only $1.00 This may be your last
opportunity to expand your collection like this. Some items do remain in very short
supply, with only one copy for sale, so get your orders in before I run out. With the
addition of the new items, I now have nearly 600 different pieces of
collectible motorobilia to you, the serious enthusiast and collector.
Here's how this works. Each press kit or promotional item has its
own page with images and a detailed description. It also has price and shipping costs for
that item. Look over the items and decide what interests you. Send me an email with your requests and I will check
stock on the requested items and send a request for payment via Paypal with a total cost
including combined shipping for those items still in stock. For more
information on shipping and handling costs, see below. You then pay me via Paypal and
I ship you the items and maybe even toss in a freebie or two. No need to worry about being
outbid.
To make it easier to navigate through such a large number of items, the inventory has
been organized into five sections:
Sales Brochures
Partly due to customer demand and partly due to the fact that there are some great
production and concept vehicles on the show circuit with some very collectible promotional
items, I've decided to expand the selection of sale brochures, pre sales brochures and
posters. Included in these are the first public brochures for the Ford GT, '05 Mustang GT,
C6 Corvette, and Pontiac Solstice. Special shipping rates have been established to make
purchase of these items economical.
Posters
Just as some people concentrate on press kits or sales brochures, posters also have
their particular collectors so I'm giving them their own section. A special flat shipping
rate has been established for rolled posters to make their purchase economical.
Swag Section
When I go to the shows, I always bring things home
for my kids, but what am I supposed to do with all these Scion Backpacks, Subaru
Scarfs, Bridgestone Stopwatches, and Kia Wallets? There are other items as well
and they are beginning to take up valuable space so I'm putting them on sale.
Bargain Bin
With all the new items it made sense to do a complete inventory. The inventory
made it clear that I have a considerable number of items that fall in the category of
"interesting and collectible but not too many people are going to pay $3 shipping to
get an item that is worth $1 or $2". That's understandable, so I've added a Bargain Bin section to the website for these items. Most
items purchased from the Bargain Bin, when combined with the purchase of
a regular items, will have free shipping up to six Bargain Bin items.
This site is set up more like a small retail store than an auction site.
Auctions are nice but they have their limitations. Nobody
wants to be outbid at the last moment or pay too much for something. Who wants to wait
seven days to find out if you're going to win the auction or how much something is going
to cost you? Using an auction site also drives up the cost because the seller has to pay a
commission. If you've been here before, please take the time to take another look around.
You might also want to check on items from previous years for discount prices.

A few words about pricing. I try to price things fairly. I work
hard to acquire these items. There are costs involved in attending the shows, including
maintaining credentials. Working the shows themselves are both physically and
psychologically demanding. It literally hurts to carry around a bag with 60 lbs. of paper
and cardboard all day long on a floor that's concrete below the carpet. It's not easy to
obtain items from companies that rigorously try to keep items distributed to the media off
of the collectors' market. It also takes some level of expert knowledge to know what items
are going to be valued by collectors. Once I get the items, I do a professional job at
cataloging and describing them so that you can make an informed decision. Each item is
photographed to highlight important features and then I go through each of the press kits
or promotional items to determine what models are covered and what features are included
in the items. Every cd-rom is checked for content. Once the item is reviewed, I try to
write an honest description, including those features that I think would be significant to
a literature collector, marque enthusiast or general auto enthusiast. Is there some hype?
Sure, I want to sell the stuff, but the descriptions are accurate and truthful. Once I
write the description, I decide on a price. My prices are based on a number of factors,
including the difficulty in acquiring the item, market prices on auction sites, the
vehicle covered, the features of the item itself, and my own opinion of the item's value.
Considering how most of these items are not usually available to the general public and
considering how much information they have on particular marques and models, they are a
good value. Think about car magazines. How much are they on the newstand? $5 with the
fancy ones close to $10. We've all bought a car magazine because it had a particular car
featured. Compare the amount of information and graphics available in a magazine to what
you can find on most press kits and there's really no comparison. Remember, most newspaper
and magazine articles about cars rely heavily on press kits for factual information. Add
the fact that while many of the press kits have special packaging or special
features, all of them are not distributed to the general public so you have something that
is truly collectible and a good value for what we charge. Sometimes my prices may be a
higher than what you might see as opening bids on auction sites and often significantly
lower. That's because I think that the item is worth the price I am charging.
A few words about condition and quality. All items should be
considered new as received at the auto show. Though we try to
get and keep items in pristine condition, because of handling at the show some items might
have scuff marks or bent corners. I won't sell anything that's obviously ripped, torn, or
stained. Most items are in absolutely mint condition, with some items in sealed packaging.
A few words about shipping and handling costs.
I don't try to make money off of shipping. On the other hand, I can't afford to lose money
on shipping, particularly international shipments, which have expensive shipping costs.
Shipping and handling means that there's more involved than just paying UPS or the USPS.
Items are packaged carefully, in corrugated cardboard boxes, balancing the need to protect
the item with the need to keep your shipping costs low. I will combine shipping to
keep your shipping costs low. Typically, each additional items costs an additional $1.50
shipping and handling. Shipping for all regular brochures is $1.50 an item and
rolled posters have a flat rate of $5.00 s&h for up to 8 rolled posters.
About the Ford Centennial and other historical celebrations
2003 was the Ford Motor Company's 100th anniversary. All of the materials celebrating
that centennial were very popular with collectors and Ford history buffs, though a small
number of those items do remain in stock. In addition, 2004 is Ford of Canada's centennial
year and just about all of the Canadian Ford items display the centennial logo and a
number have Ford historical information. To help you identify Ford centennial items,
anything relating to the centennial celebration will have this logo next to the link:
There are a number of other history related items including A Century Of Buick, Moments
25 Years Of quattro from Audi, and The American Mercedes reprint of a 1906 Mercedes sales
brochure, Maserati's 90th Anniversary and others.
